Mark Sikand is a registered civil engineer and President and owner of Sikand Engineering. The firm has done planning, engineering and survey work in the Los Angeles, Santa Clarita, Palmdale and Bakersfield areas for over 50 years.

Mark has always made an effort to give back to his community. He has been on the board and served as president of the youth Pony baseball league in the valley, Westhills Baseball, and is currently the chair of the board of his two sons’ middle and high school, Chaminade, is serving his tenth year on the Planning Commission for his City of Calabasas and is on advisory boards for Cal State Northridge and Cal State Los Angeles.

He and his wife Lynette also volunteer at Children’s Hospital with their family pet, a Black Russian terrier named Ted. Ted was registered as a therapy dog with Pet Partners at one year old and has been volunteering at CHLA for the past year. Ted loves to put on his ID badge and purple scarf and get in bed with the kids. He is over 100lbs and is quite a sight, bringing joy and smiles to kids, parents and staff.

His desire to give back to the Los Angeles Department of Animal Control stemmed from an experience his family had with a previous pet at the Agoura Animal Care Center and he currently serves as liaison to that animal care center.
