Born and raised in Los Angeles, Renee has always enjoyed all that Southern California has to offer. In addition to enjoying all of its cultural venues as well as its natural beauty, she benefitted from the educational institutions of the city receiving a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Southern California in 1979 and a J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1983.
Her legal career has been varied starting out in boutique law firms including her own in addition to teaching several years at UCLA Extension. After fifteen years of law firm life, she joined Sikand Engineering Associates, an engineering firm founded by her father Gunjit Sikand in 1958 and currently run by her brother Mark Sikand, a fellow board member. She presently continues to serve as general counsel for the engineering company as well as for a real estate management and development company, M G Enterprises, LLC.
Renee’s love of animals started when she was young and has grown stronger through the years. She is inseparable from Oliver, her loveable albeit drooling Bloodhound, and Gretchen, her clever wire haired dachshund.
As a new member to the Board, Renee is looking forward to combining her love of animals with her legal knowledge in order to aid in the improvement of the care and treatment of animals. Her compassion for animals and great appreciation for what an important role they have played in her life are her inspiration. Together with her brother Mark, she serves as Foundation liaison to the Agoura Animal Care Center.
